Florist Series: Emma Lea Floral

Florist Series: Emma Lea Floral

Meet, Emma

Emma has been flowering in Colorado for nearly a decade. Her style is consistently beautiful and romantic. She has also been a massive force in sustainability by composting, eradicating floral foam & single use plastics from her designs, prioritizing locally grown blooms AND educating us on how we can implement these tools in our designs.

Emma picked our tapers in Rhubarb to style her table. She used all the best Spring blooms— hyacinth, hellebore, sweet peas, jasmine and tulips; paired the blooms with the sculptural grape elements and terracotta vessels for a warm, rich take on a Spring table!

It makes us think outside the box on the traditional tones when we think of Spring with a moody twist— and to play with our food! How fun are those grape arrangements?!

Did you always know you’d have a creative career? Or how did it find you?

I don't think I ever truly thought of a creative career as an option. I always knew I needed to express myself creatively but never felt like I was all that talented at anything so a "practical career" seemed like the right choice. I told myself I should be an accountant which was hilarious because I am terrible with numbers and immediately had to rule it out after barely passing accounting 101. I landed in Art History with hopes of working in a gallery and had to take art classes as a requirement for the major. I didn't feel like I was any good at art after taking those but it did rekindle my creativity and led me to accept an internship with an event florist right out of college. And the rest is history!

What’s your fav part about Spring?

I absolutely love when seasons shift. The spring is the best because you get to watch everything wake up and come back to life. Seeing buds turning into leaves and hearing the birds enjoy the warm weather makes me feel connected to nature a feel my own sense of coming back to life after a long winter in front of my computer.

What’s your go-to post setup meal?

Spaghetti or noodles of any kind. They are my ultimate comfort food and I'm always craving carbs after a long setup.
